Celebration of Rose’s life service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 -8:00 P.M. on Monday May 15, 2017 at Pulliam Funeral home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers an expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the First Baptist Church of Oblong or the Oblong Sports Boosters. Envelopes will be available at or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O. Box 121 Oblong, IL 62449.

Rosetta Maxine “Rose” Houdasheldt, 81, Oblong, IL passed away at 11:15 A.M. on Wednesday May 10, 2017 at her residence in Oblong, IL.

Rose was born in Crawford County, IL Oblong area on December 3, 1935 to Albert and Edna (Mendenhall) Jacobs. On June 13, 1954 she married Donald R. “Hardy” Houdasheldt Sr. who preceded her in death in 2013.

Rose was a homemaker and a preacher’s wife. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oblong and the Oblong High School Class of 1953. Rose was also a member of the Oblong 20th Century Club and the Oblong American Legion Post 219 Auxiliary. Rose enjoyed reading and her dog Zoey.

Rose is survived by a grandson Josh Houdasheldt, Greenup, IL; three granddaughters Mandy Houdasheldt and her husband Daniel Enriquez, St. Louis, MO, Bethany and D.J. Davis, Oblong, IL; Hannah and J.B. Holmes, Robinson, IL; two great granddaughters Madeline Davis, Oblong, IL, Isabella Holmes, Robinson, IL; two daughters-in-law Diane Houdasheldt and Dana Houdasheldt both of Oblong, IL; one brother and sister-in-law Mark and Donna Jacobs Oblong, IL. Rose is also survived by a nephew Troy Jacobs, Robinson, IL and a great nephew Alec Jacobs, Oblong, IL.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons Donald R. “Rick” Houdasheldt Jr. and Daniel “Dan” Houdasheldt and one nephew Todd Jacobs.
